1. MIIT Includes Energy Storage Batteries in 2026 Energy-Saving Supervision Key Scope for the First Time

For the first time, photovoltaic modules and energy storage batteries have been included in the special industrial chain supervision scope of 2026 industrial energy-saving inspection. The inspection covers full-chain enterprises from raw materials and manufacturing to terminal assembly, focusing on production energy consumption and product energy efficiency.

This move marks a comprehensive upgrade of national industrial energy-saving and carbon reduction supervision. The PV and energy storage industries have entered a new era with dual constraints on energy consumption and efficiency, kicking off the phase of eliminating low-efficiency production capacity.

The 2026 industrial energy-saving supervision delivers a clear signal: under the dual-carbon goals, industrial energy-saving supervision will be normalized and fully covered, with stricter regulation for the new energy industrial chain. For enterprises, energy consumption compliance has become a prerequisite for production, operation and capacity expansion.

2. Solid-State Batteries Enter Phased Commercialization Stage

Consensus has been reached at the CIBF forum that 2026 marks the mass production starting year of semi-solid batteries. Full-solid batteries are expected to start pilot vehicle installation in 2027 and achieve large-scale production in high-performance scenarios by 2030.

Solid-state batteries will be prioritized applied in segmented markets with low capacity demand but extremely high requirements for safety and energy density. The entire industrial chain of solid-state batteries, including upstream electrolyte materials, core manufacturing equipment and terminal application scenarios, is fully prepared.

The industry is transitioning from laboratory technical demonstration to engineering-based mass production and delivery.

3. CSI Solar Ships 2.1 GWh Energy Storage Systems in Q1, Targets 3.2 GWh in Q2

On May 14, CSI Solar released its Q1 2026 financial report and Q2 2026 business outlook. In Q1, the company shipped 2.5 GW of PV modules and 2.1 GWh of energy storage systems, representing a 142% year-on-year increase. Its Q1 revenue reached USD 1.1 billion (approximately RMB 7.65 billion).

The company projects Q2 energy storage system shipments to range from 2.8 GWh to 3.2 GWh, with total revenue expected between USD 1.0 billion and USD 1.2 billion (approximately RMB 6.95 billion to 8.34 billion) and a gross margin of 13% to 15%.

4. EVE Energy Secures 8 GWh Cooperation Deal with Indian Enterprise, 60 GWh Potential Scale in Five Years

EVE Energy has reached a cooperation agreement with Indian energy enterprise Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL), securing an 8 GWh large-format energy storage battery order. Both parties plan a potential cooperation scale of 60 GWh in the next five years.

The cooperation will adopt EVE Energy’s 628Ah large-capacity energy storage batteries.

5. LONGi’s First German Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Project Connected to Grid

LONGi’s first industrial and commercial energy storage project in Germany has been officially grid-connected. Located in Stralsund, northeastern Germany, the project is invested and operated by local utility company Stadtwerke Stralsund.

Adopting LONGi self-developed OmniCube A215 PV-storage-flexible integrated energy storage system, the project completed installation and commissioning at the end of April.

6. REPT Unveils Its First Overseas Manufacturing Base

REPT showcased its first overseas manufacturing base at the Indonesia International Coal & Energy Exhibition (ICEE 2026) held from May 11 to 13, 2026. The company also signed multiple strategic cooperation agreements with global clients and partners to strengthen local industrial collaboration.
