1. Spark Renewables Approved for Australia Dinawan PV and 1.57 GWh Energy Storage Project

According to ESSNews on April 7, the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) of New South Wales, Australia, approved the Dinawan solar and energy storage project developed by Spark Renewables in southwestern New South Wales. The project includes an 800 MW PV power station and a 356 MW/1574 MWh battery energy storage system, with a total investment of approximately AUD 1.35 billion.

The project will create around 400 full-time jobs during construction. Upon completion, it will supply power to about 142,000 households and help enhance grid stability and energy security.


2. Neoen to Build 496 MWh Storage Project in France and Launch 100 MW Project in Japan

According to Energy-Storage.news on April 7, French independent power producer Neoen will launch two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in France and Japan in the coming months, with a combined capacity of nearly 1 GWh.

The French project is a 248 MW/496 MWh energy storage system located approximately 90 kilometers southeast of Paris. It will connect to RTE’s 400 kV high-voltage transmission grid with a maximum grid-connection capacity of 200 MW, scheduled to start construction in summer 2026 and be commissioned in 2028.

The Japanese 100 MW/400 MWh Ako energy storage project is located in the Kansai region and is also expected to be operational in 2028.


3. Feston to Construct 3 GWh Annual Energy Storage Factory in India

According to ESSNews on April 7, Indian solar and energy technology company Feston SEV plans to build a 3 GWh annual-capacity battery energy storage system (BESS) factory, producing energy storage products ranging from 5,000 rkWh to 5 MWh for residential and commercial clients.

The company has signed an agreement with Bangalore-based Light Mechanics to procure a 3 GWh prismatic BESS module production line. The project marks Feston’s strategic expansion from inverter business to integrated solar, energy storage and power electronics solutions, accelerating its layout in the Indian energy storage market.


4. Boralex and Six Nations Secure USD 145 Million Financing for 500 MWh Canadian Storage Project

According to Energy-Storage.news on April 7, Quebec-based independent power producer Boralex and Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) secured approximately CAD 202 million (USD 145.12 million) in financing for a 125 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in South-West Oxford Township, Ontario.

The project is expected to be commissioned in 2027. The financing is jointly arranged by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and the National Bank of Canada (NBC).


5. Brazil Approves First Co-Located PV and Energy Storage Project, Marking New Regulatory Milestone

According to ESSNews on April 8, Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) granted the first official approval for a battery energy storage system (BESS) co-located with a photovoltaic power plant.

The storage system will be co-located with Statkraft’s Sol de Brotas 7 PV plant in Uibaí, Bahia, with a capacity of 1.25 MW / 5 MWh. By sharing grid connection facilities, the system can deliver surplus power to the grid on demand.

The approval improves power station flexibility and represents a major milestone in Brazil’s energy storage policy and regulation, supporting renewable energy development and investment.


6. EVE Energy to Add 110 GWh Energy Storage Battery Capacity with RMB 11 Billion Investment

On April 8, EVE Energy released two announcements to build energy storage battery production bases in Shanghang County of Fujian and Qidong City of Jiangsu, with a total planned capacity of 110 GWh and a total investment of RMB 11 billion.

The Jiangsu Qidong 50 GWh energy storage and power battery base requires an investment of RMB 5 billion, while the Fujian Shanghang 60 GWh energy storage battery base involves RMB 6 billion in investment.

The expansion aims to scale up production capacity, optimize industrial structure and strengthen the company’s strategic layout in the new energy storage market.


7. Aggreko to Build Australia’s Largest Off-Grid Renewable Hybrid Power Plant at Eva Copper Mine

According to ESSNews on April 8, Scotland-headquartered energy solution provider Aggreko signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with South African mining firm Harmony Gold to construct an off-grid renewable hybrid power plant at the Eva Copper Mine in northwestern Queensland.

Integrating 118 MWp PV, 250 MWh battery energy storage and 104 MVA thermal power facilities, the project will be built, owned and operated by Aggreko. It will become Australia’s largest off-grid renewable hybrid power plant, providing flexible and low-carbon energy for mine construction and operation.


8. CATL Invests RMB 4.1 Billion to Stake in Zhongheng Technology, Layout Computing-Power Grid Integration

On April 9, Zhongheng Technology announced that CATL plans to subscribe for new registered capital of Zhongheng Technology Investment with a total investment of RMB 4.1 billion, including equity contribution of RMB 1.196 billion via its 99.697% stake in Tidian (Shenzhen) Technology and cash investment.

Upon completion of the capital increase, CATL will hold a 49% equity stake, while the original controlling shareholder will remain in control. Both parties will cooperate in green ICT infrastructure, transportation electrification and new power systems featuring computing-power grid integration.


9. TenneT Signs First Grid Congestion Relief Energy Storage Project in the Netherlands

According to Energy-Storage.news on April 10, Dutch transmission system operator TenneT signed a contract with developer Greenroom Energy Storage to build the 200 MW/800 MWh Sequoia battery energy storage system (BESS) in North Brabant.

Adopting Time-Delimited Transmission Rights (TDTR) and Capacity Schedule Contract (CSC) mechanisms, the project is recognized by TenneT as the first on-demand congestion-relief storage asset on its high-voltage grid, scheduled for commissioning in 2027.


10. Four National Ministries Hold Symposium to Regulate Irrational Competition in Energy Storage Industry

On April 9, four national authorities including the MIIT, NDRC, SAMR and NEA jointly held a symposium to standardize market competition order.

The authorities will implement capacity early warning and regulation, shorten supplier payment terms, curb excessive industrial competition, and formulate a negative list of irrational competitive behaviors in the energy storage sector.


11. Multiple Central State-Owned Enterprises Divest New Energy Projects

Since April 2026, public filings from property rights exchanges in Beijing, Chongqing, Shandong, Guangdong and other regions show that multiple central SOEs including China Energy Investment, State Grid, PowerChina, CSSC, CGN, China Southern Power Grid and China Resources Power have publicly sold equity stakes in new energy subsidiaries or completely exited certain new energy businesses, drawing widespread industry attention.
